Is the MacBook Pro Better than PCs for Work?

POSTED: Jul 13, 2022
Apple computers are always referenced as tools meant to be used by designers and photographers. What if we told you that the MacBook Pro is the best laptop for the business world? Read about why this elegant machine is the right fit for today's new working model.

Apple laptops have been a staple in offices around the world, but many would be quick to argue that they aren’t ideal machines. They don’t have Windows, which means they aren’t compatible with industry-standard software. For example, people argue that you can’t use Microsoft Office on your Mac. This has always been a big sticking point and even today there are plenty of people who won’t buy a Mac just because of it. But what if I told you that wasn’t really an issue anymore? It might surprise you to learn that Bootcamp, a utility that comes with your Mac, helps you download Microsoft Widows and switch to Windows settings, so you can use Microsoft Office just as you would on a PC.

And the Price?

A common criticism is price. And yes, Apple laptops don’t come cheap, they are comparable in price to high-performing PCs and in terms of their capabilities when it comes to productivity, security, software, battery life & overall aesthetics, there is nothing like the Mac for working professionals. However, if the price is holding you back, here at Loop Mobile, we carry pristine, certified refurbished, and more affordable than new MacBooks that come with a 1-year warranty,

Let’s look at the MacBook’s best attributes:

Trackpad

The MacBook Pro's trackpad is one of the largest you can find on a laptop, which greatly improves usability. Using a trackpad of this size is a real joy, and I wish other manufacturers would follow suit.

The trackpad features Force Touch technology. Although most users will not realize it, the trackpad does not actually sink when pressed but uses Apple's haptic technology to simulate a "click" when pressed.

The trackpad not only acts as a mouse but offers additional functionality. For example, you can vary the scrolling speed in QuickTime Player, or speed up zooming in Apple Maps. And if you click hard on a word in the browser you can see its definition.

If you work in Marketing, Content, Administration, Legal, and other data processing jobs, this trackpad will help you get the job done quickly.

Oh, and I don’t want to forget my favorite trackpad attribute which is the power button that incorporates a Touch ID fingerprint reader to access the computer, fill in user data and passwords automatically in Safari or even confirm purchases using it. This button is protected by the sapphire glass to improve its durability.

Display

The MacBook Pro arrives with a display that boasts a Retina resolution of 2,560 by 1,600 pixels, giving us a very high pixel density, looks remarkably good from all angles, and icons, text, and images are displayed with great clarity, and the color fidelity is outstanding.

The display with its wide color gamut is ideal for photo editing; perfect if you work in design, audiovisual content creation, animation, etc.

Hardware

The new MacBook Pro models include an 8th generation Intel i7 quad-core processor and 16 GB of RAM. That will make it easy to streamline your processes, like making bulk changes in Excel or importing spreadsheets with large amounts of data. You'll also have plenty of space to store documents without needing an external hard drive--the standard model comes with 256 GB of storage. It's designed to get things done quickly and efficiently.

Battery

If your office is a co-working space, if you like to work from coffee shops, or if you just like to be able to use your laptop freely without the cable charger, our refurbished MacBook Pro’s battery lasts for 8 hours. Your whole workday!

One area where Apple's laptops stand out from their Windows rivals is in standby time. While Windows laptops drain their battery quickly when closed, the MacBook Pro holds up to 30 days on standby.

Privacy and Security

If you're considering switching to a MacBook and are worried about security, take comfort in Apple's Find My Mac feature. This handy feature, which was introduced with Mountain Lion and iCloud, allows you to locate your Mac via its Web browser or your mobile device. You can send a message from either location that locks your computer or wipes its data (and it will remain so unless you enter your login credentials). To use Find My MacBook: Open System Preferences > iCloud > Find my iPhone/iPad/Mac under Account and select all of the checkboxes on the right-hand side of the window. Your computer must be connected to Wi-Fi and have a power source to be able to locate it remotely with these instructions as they could cost cell phone data usage while searching through a wireless provider.

The Find My Mac app is so important because it not only helps you track and protect your stolen laptop. The more of us who take measures like these to protect our devices, the less likely thieves are to steal computers, phones, and other belongings.

Protecting your Apple ID is an important step to keeping your online accounts secure. If you haven’t already, I recommend enabling two-factor authentication (2FA) for your Apple ID. This means that even if someone guesses or steals your password, they won’t be able to access your laptop unless they also have possession of a device you used with 2FA enabled.

In my overall review of our refurbished MacBook Pro and have used it for most of this year for my content creation needs, strategies, and research, I would never go back to a PC.  Why don’t you try it as well? You can purchase one of our certified refurbished MacBook Pros and return it free of charge within 30 days of purchase!
